Travel
Air
The following airports lie in the Mid Atlantic Region listed in order of increasing distance from Baltimore.
- Baltimore-Washington Airport BWI
- Reagan National Airport DCA
- Dulles International Airport IAD
- Philadelphia International Airport PHL
- Newark Airport EWR
From each of these, it is possible to get to Baltimore on public transit in roughly 1 hour for BWI, 2 hours for DCA or PHL, and 3 hours for IAD and EWR. Each trip involves a train journey as described below, plus potentially some local public transit. Note that public transit is only available during the day, so please check the schedules before booking.
A taxi from EWR would take as long as the train. For the other airports, a taxi would take about half the time, at a cost proportional to the distance.
Train
Baltimore also has a centrally located Amtrak station, which has a direct connection to the Baltimore-Washington Airport and the Newark Airport. One can also take the train to Washington, DC, where it is possible to connect to DCA and IAD, or to Philadelphia where it is possible to connect to PHL.
Baltimore and Washington DC are also connected via commuter rail, the MARC Penn-Washington Line, which stops at BWI en route to DC’s Union Station.
BWI is also connected to Baltimore via the Light Rail Link, with various stops in Baltimore.
Local Transportation
While a taxi queue may be found at the train station or the airport, it is more common to hail a taxi using a mobile app such as Uber or Lyft.
Within the city, participants may get around via the Johns Hopkins Campus Shuttle, particularly the Homewood Peabody JHMI line or the Hampden Circulator Shuttle. Another free public transportation option is the Charm City Circulator or (less practically) the Harbor Connector. There is also a network of paid bus routes.
Accommodation
There are various local hotel options, listed in order of increasing distance from the Homewood campus:
- The Study at Johns Hopkins, which offers a special rate for either or both conferences.
- The Colonnade, which offers special rates for CT2026 and DV60
- Hotel Ulysses
- Hotel Revival Baltimore
- Hotel Indigo Baltimore Downtown, which offers rate code: ILYDA
The first two options are within easy walking distance of the Homewood campus, where the conference will be held. The last three options are within easy walking distance of the Peabody campus, which is connected to the Homewood Campus via the Homewood Peabody campus shuttle.
Participants who prefer to stay in an apartment can search on AirBNB.
